Take Control of Your Diabetes: Introducing the Ultimate Solution – The Estimated Glucose Load (EGL) Chart!

Excess sugar intake in general and more in diabetes patients causes blood sugar fluctuations and spikes. Therefore, we must control our sugar intake. However, the biggest problem regarding this is that we are often unaware of the sugar or carb content present in the foods we eat. So we bring you the solution to this problem: THE EGL CHART. The estimated glucose load or the EGL of a food tells you how much that food is likely to raise your blood sugar levels. With the help of this chart, you can easily figure out the sugar content present in foods.

Benefits of Using Our EGL Chart

Easy to Use

The EGL chart is designed and developed so that users have no problem figuring out the values of particular foods. Moreover, we have divided the chart into various food groups with proper labelling. The values in the chart are color-based: green indicates good foods, yellow indicates foods to have in limited quantities, and red indicates foods to avoid.

Covers a Wide Range of Food

Breathe Well-being’s EGL chart covers a wide range of foods divided into categories like veggies, fruits, cereals, etc. The chart contains over 300 food items, which covers mainly all the foods you will be having throughout the day. We will be updating the chart regularly to cover up-to-date foods.

The Single Chart Compatible with All (HbA1c, BMI, HOMA, etc.)

Our EGL chart is compatible with all foods, whether grocery shopping or dining outside. The chart categorises foods into 3 different categories that are compatible with the HOMA IR formula, BMI, or HbA1c. Foods with low, mid, and high EGL values are to be consumed accordingly in all these charts.

Control Diabetes with Ease

Diabetes reversal is now a reality. Imagine living your life when you weren’t diabetic. Having no meds, eating foods you desire, and no blood sugar testing, yes, you can come back to this. Consuming foods based on their EGL values greatly helps control and eventually reverse diabetes. When you wish to strictly restrict your blood sugar keep daily EGL of your diet under 25 and when planning to give yourself a bit to liberty extend the total EGL value of your diet to 30-33.

What is the EGL value of a food?

The estimated glucose load (EGL) of a food tells you how much that food is likely to raise your blood sugar levels. Estimated glucose load also goes by the name of estimated glycemic load. It considers two factors:

  • Glycemic Index (GI): This measures how quickly and how much a food containing carbohydrates raises your blood sugar compared to pure glucose.
  • Glycemic Load (GL): This measures how much is the carb content of the food you are consuming. This is calculated by dividing the product of glycemic index and amount of carbs by 100.
  • Carb content refers to the amount of carbs in a typical serving/portion of that food.

Now, here are the detailed category-wise EGL charts of different foods:
